Pilot Peter McDonald lives and farms with his family on the banks of Thule Lagoon, the ancient bed of the Murray River. Their scenic flights business adds to the tourism economy of the region with the benefits enriching the local economy.
The McDonald’s strongly believe that you have to step lightly and manage the land in a considered way. Increasing understanding of the geography and complexity of the Basin’s magnificent landscapes enhances a sense of connection to place. They hope that with connection and wide spread understanding comes care.
Over the past 20 years Peter and Wendy have established native vegetation regeneration sites on their farm, including a remnant habitat wetland. Murray Darling Scenic Flights enables the McDonald family to continue to manage and protect ancient stands of remnant Redgum timber on their property. They actively engage with and support local landcare organisations.
